Abstract

Here are the final 300 of the 1000 promised stories. Aesop shows up early here, in #707. The bee, urged to ask for whatever she wanted by Zeus, asks for the power to kill with her sting anyone who steals her honey. Zeus does not like the request but grants it with the stipulation that losing her sting will kill her. A favorite source for Mihalic is "Quote" magazine. #871 is from there: A young lover is writing a love-letter to his beloved. "I would do anything for you -- walk through fire, swim the greatest river….So I'll come tomorrow evening if it's not raining." #945 tells of a Pravda report on a car race with only two contestants, one Russian and one American. Without mentioning how many were in the race, Pravda reported that the Russian came in second and the American next to last. Subject and title indices at the back.
